The Tiger's Nest Monastery

Taktsang Palphug Monastery more famous as Paro Taktsang is a Buddhist temple complex which clings to a cliff, 3120 meters above the sea level

The dzong was built by Tenzin Drukdra in 1649 at the behest of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, to commemorate victory over an invasion from Tibet.

Bumdrak Monastery is a sacred Bhutanese Buddhist site steeped in legend and spiritual significance. According to tradition, Guru Padmasambhava and his consort Yeshe Tsogyel blessed this place in the 8th century, and the cliff below the temple is said to bear the rare imprints of 100,000 dakinis—female spirits of enlightenment—giving the site its name, Bumdrak, meaning “hundred thousand footprints.”
